Redo the eight modules
It's been a couple of years, the site has changed, or you'd rather not guess. Work through all eight modules, or just the ones on risk recognition and technique, then sit the assessment.

Six reasons people come back
- Your employer's refresher period has come round (most sites use one to three years).
- You're changing sites, roles or employers and the new one wants current training.
- New equipment or a new process: different cages, a mezzanine, a changed pick face.
- You're returning after an injury, a long absence or a stint away from physical work.
- There's been a near miss or an injury on your team and everyone is resetting.
- Your old certificate has gone missing and you need a fresh, verifiable one.
There is no legal expiry on manual handling training in Australia; refresher periods are set by employers. Our guide on how long a manual handling certificate is valid covers what to expect.
What's changed since you last trained
Three things worth re-reading
Weight limits are gone. If your original training quoted 16 kg or 55 kg, that came from a standard withdrawn years ago. The current code of practice assesses the task, not the number; the weight limits guide explains what replaced it.
Repetition counts as much as load. Modern guidance treats hundreds of light handles as a hazard in its own right. Module 3, Recognising Risk, is the one to reread if you pick or pack.
Pushing and pulling is where the force is. Roll cages, pallet jacks and dock plates cause more sudden-force injuries than lifts on many sites. Module 6 covers it with warehouse examples.
