Manual handling for warehouse inductions

The general manual handling layer of your induction, done online before day one — so the time you spend on site goes to your procedures instead of explaining what a hazardous manual task is.

Where it fits

Split the general from the site-specific

The principles are the same in every warehouse and expensive to teach one new starter at a time. Your procedures are yours and nobody else can deliver them. Separating the two is what makes an induction shorter without making it thinner.

  1. Before day one

    The online course

The general layer: what a hazardous manual task is, how to size up a load, the hierarchy of controls, when to stop and ask. Identical for every starter, so there is no reason to teach it face to face each time.

  2. Day one

    Your induction

Your site: the layout, your procedures, your reporting process, where the equipment lives and who to tell. Nobody else can deliver this.

  3. First shifts

    Practical sign-off

Hands-on with the equipment they will actually use, watched by someone competent. Technique only sticks when somebody corrects it in the moment.

  4. Ongoing

    Refreshers

On your schedule, and sooner after an incident, new equipment or a changed process.

What it costs you

Nothing, until someone wants a record

Send starters the link. The eight modules and the 20-question assessment are free, with no account and no signup, so there is nothing to provision and nothing to approve. The only paid item is the optional $39 AUD Certificate of Completion, which is what gives you a verifiable record that a named person passed on a given date.

Induction questions

As the general awareness layer of it, yes — and that is the part that is identical for every starter. It does not cover your site's layout, procedures or equipment, and it is not a substitute for supervised practical training. Most sites use it before day one so the classroom part of induction can be shorter and site-specific.

Each person can buy an optional Certificate of Completion for $39 AUD after passing the assessment. It carries their name, the date, their result and a unique ID that anyone can check on our verification page. Without the certificate there is no central record — the training itself is anonymous and free.

Not yet. Each person enrols and pays individually after passing. Group purchasing and a central completion report are the next things we are building.

No, it is non-accredited general awareness training and not a nationally recognised qualification. Training is also only one control: Australian WHS guidance is clear that it supports higher-order controls like better layouts and mechanical aids rather than replacing them. Treat it as one part of how you meet your duty, not the whole of it.

About an hour for eight short modules, plus a 20-question assessment. Self-paced on any phone or laptop, so it can be done before they arrive.

Yes, and that is where it is most useful — a free course with no account needed means a casual starting Monday can do it Sunday night without you provisioning anything.

This is non-accredited general awareness training and does not issue a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. Always confirm your employer's specific training requirements.
