Across Tasmania

Where warehouse handling happens in Tasmania

The course doesn't change from suburb to suburb — but this is the kind of operation it's written for.

  • Bell Bay, Devonport and Burnie handle the state's freight across Bass Strait, and warehousing clusters around all three.
  • Hobart's northern suburbs, through Derwent Park, Glenorchy and Cambridge, carry most of the south's distribution and wholesale stores work.
  • Launceston and the Tamar corridor combine regional distribution with manufacturing stores.
  • Food and agriculture processing across the north-west puts cold storage and chilled distribution handling into everyday warehouse work.
  • Freight volumes are smaller than on the mainland, which often means fewer people doing a wider range of handling tasks per shift.

Also covers workers in and around Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, Burnie, Bell Bay and Kingston.

FAQ

No. The course is fully online and self-paced, so there's nothing to book and no travel — you can do it from home or on a break, on a phone or a laptop.

Work health and safety in Tasmania is regulated by WorkSafe Tasmania under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (Tas) and its Regulations, which includes duties to manage the risks of hazardous manual tasks. This course is general awareness training, not legal advice — check the WorkSafe Tasmania guidance or ask your employer about the requirements that apply to your site.

That depends on the employer. The optional Certificate of Completion shows you completed the training and passed the assessment, but it's non-accredited and is not a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. Some sites require accredited training or an in-house program, so check first.

The scenarios centre on warehouse and distribution centre handling — racking, pick faces, cages and dock loading. That covers a lot of container unpacking and staging work, but it doesn't cover machinery licensing or port-specific operational procedures.

This is non-accredited general awareness training and does not issue a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. Always confirm your employer's specific training requirements.
