Warehouse Scenarios

Apply what you have learned to real distribution centre situations.

8 minute read

Warehouse scenario

Peak week pick rates

Volumes double and you are asked to hit a higher rate. You start skipping the trolley and carrying two cartons at a time.

Takeaway: Rushing removes your controls. Raise the rate concern with your supervisor rather than absorbing the risk with your body.

Warehouse scenario

Damaged pallet in the aisle

A pallet has collapsed and stock is leaning into the walkway. Another picker asks you to help drag it clear.

Takeaway: Dragging an unstable load is high force plus unpredictable movement. Isolate the area, report it, and use the right equipment.

Warehouse scenario

Cool room transfers

You move stock in and out of a cool room for an hour. Your hands get cold and your grip weakens.

Takeaway: Cold reduces grip and muscle performance. Use gloves suited to the task and rotate out of the cold room regularly.

Knowledge check

You are told to hit a rate you cannot safely achieve. Best first step?
