In plain terms
What manual handling is, and what this course does
Manual handling is any activity where you use your body to lift, lower, push, pull, carry, hold or restrain something. In a warehouse that covers most of a shift: cartons off pallets, roll cages across the dock, repetitive picking at a bench.
Warehouse Manual Handling Awareness Training is a free online course that teaches warehouse and logistics workers to recognise hazardous manual tasks and handle loads more safely. It ends with a free 20-question assessment, and learners who pass can add an optional Certificate of Completion for $39 AUD.

Why it matters
Backs don't go in one lift
Body stressing — lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and working in awkward postures — accounts for more serious workers' compensation claims in Australia than any other mechanism. It is why Safe Work Australia publishes a code of practice for hazardous manual tasks at all.
Almost none of it happens the way people expect. The injury is rarely the one heavy carton: it is the six hundredth light one, the reach over a pallet instead of walking around it, the twist to put something down behind you. Each is survivable on its own. The damage is cumulative, and by the time it is obvious it has usually been building for months.
Knowing which tasks carry the risk is what lets you change them — or say something before they change you.
It builds up
Repetition and sustained posture do more damage over a roster than any single lift does in a moment.
It is predictable
The same handful of task patterns cause most of it, and they can be spotted before anything goes wrong.
Technique is the last control
Changing the task, the layout or the equipment beats lifting better — training supports that, it doesn't replace it.
Early beats late
Reporting discomfort early is the difference between an adjustment and a claim.

Real warehouse scenarios
Training built around the work, not the textbook
Every module and every assessment question is grounded in situations from real distribution centres — the ones you'll recognise from your own shift.

Lifting & placing cartons
Pick faces, pallet racking and awkward shelf heights — how to set up the lift before you move the load.

Pushing cages & trolleys
Roll cages, pallet jacks and dock plates — grip, posture and what to do when equipment fights back.

Repetitive picking & packing
Hundreds of light handles per shift add up — spotting repetition and posture risk before it becomes an injury.
Inside the course
What you'll learn, module by module
Eight short lessons built around the handling you actually do on shift — from sizing up a load to a sticky roll cage on a ramp.

What it is not
This is non-accredited workplace awareness training. It is not nationally recognised training, not an RTO qualification, not HLTWHS005, and it does not issue a Statement of Attainment. It supplements the site induction, supervision and equipment-specific training your employer provides — it does not replace them.
Many warehouse and logistics employers accept awareness training for induction and refresher purposes, but requirements vary. If you are not sure what yours needs, ask before you pay.
