About Warehouse Handling Academy
Warehouse Handling Academy is an independent Australian website that provides free, non-accredited manual handling awareness training for warehouse and logistics workers, with an optional paid Certificate of Completion. This page explains who is behind it, how the content is produced and what the certificate does and does not represent.
What we are
- An independent online training resource for Australian warehouse and logistics workers.
- A free 8-module course (about 55 minutes) and a free 20-question assessment with a 75% pass mark.
- An optional Certificate of Completion for $39 AUD, issued as a PDF with a unique ID that anyone can verify on this site.
- Written around the hazard categories in Safe Work Australia's Model Code of Practice: Hazardous Manual Tasks, using warehouse scenarios.
What we are not
- Not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), and not regulated by ASQA.
- Not nationally recognised training. The course is not HLTWHS005 or any other unit of competency and does not issue a Statement of Attainment.
- Not government approved, endorsed or issued, and not a licence.
- Not a substitute for your employer's site induction, WHS program or any accredited training a role requires.
Why the course exists
Most manual handling training available to warehouse workers is either accredited, paid and scheduled, or generic content written for offices and healthcare. There was no free, warehouse-specific way for someone starting a pick-pack or storeperson job to learn the basics before their first shift, or for an experienced worker to refresh them. Warehouse Manual Handling Awareness Training fills that gap. Training and assessment are free so that money is never the reason someone skips it; the certificate is optional and priced to cover what it costs to issue and verify.
How the content is produced and kept accurate
- Every module is built on the risk factors and control approach in Safe Work Australia's Model Code of Practice: Hazardous Manual Tasks, rather than on rules of thumb or maximum-weight myths.
- Examples are drawn from real warehouse and distribution centre tasks: racking, pick faces, roll cages, dock plates, cool rooms and peak periods.
- Assessment questions are scenario-based and reviewed against the module content so nothing is tested that isn't taught.
- Guides carry a published and updated date, link to the primary source they summarise, and are revised when that guidance changes.

The certificate, honestly
The Certificate of Completion confirms that the named person completed the Warehouse Manual Handling Awareness Training content on this website and passed the assessment, with the score and date shown. It carries a unique ID in the format WHA-YYYY-XXXXXX that an employer can check at any time on the verification page. Whether an employer accepts it is their decision; some sites require accredited training or their own program instead.
